Driving license, registration certificate stored in Digi-locker valid documents, says Delhi govt.

Driving license, registration certificate: The Delhi Govt in a recent update has announced that citizens do not need to worry about carrying their driver’s licenses, registration certificates, etc with them at all times. These documents can be stored in the Digi-locker or m-Parivahan mobile apps, and shown for verification to the traffic police officials and transport department.
A notice issued by the government states that these documents are valid under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and will be recognized legally at par with the ones issued by the transport department. The electronic record of driving license and registration certificate available on Digi-locker, or m-Parivahan, is also recognised at par with the original documents as per the provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2000, the notice stated.
"The Traffic Police and Enforcement Wing of Transport Department duly accept the electronic form of driving license and registration certificate if shown in the Digilocker and m-Parivahan app," the notice said.
One important thing to note is that these soft copies, or digital copies will not however be considered acceptable as the original records of a person’s driver's license and registration certificate if they are maintained in any other form.
DigiLocker is a cloud-based platform for storage, sharing and verification of documents and certificates. The m-Parivhana app allows people to easily access online services or facilities related to the highway transport offices, all valid RC/DL numbers.
